In Reply to: Beards or not: ''Bears'' and ''Elves'' two distinct types? posted by luke on March 16, 2014 at 23:41:26:
I like it, Luke. Elvish. It captures the almost magical character of the peculiar human custom of scraping the natural hair off your chin. A man who does this is of course feminizing himself, and the cultural evolution of this unnatural practice had to have something to do with changes in sexual self presentation. Fascinating. Myself, I go back and forth. I like both. And that fits me, since I'm sexually versatile as well. And that might be close to what it meant in primitive hominid evolution too. Thanks for that, Luke.
: I tend to prefer "Elvish" men, with long hair but minimal or no beards. Others prefer lots of facial hair as well. I think among the broader spectrum of long haired men these are two distict types. I think of them as Bears (beared longhairs) and Elves (beardless longhairs)
